Our Providers

Gandis G. Mažeika, MD

The founder of Sound Sleep Health, Dr. Mažeika obtained his medical degree at the UC Davis School of Medicine. He completed a joint residency in Psychiatry and Neurology through Harvard Medical School and Duke University Medical Center, followed by a Neurology and Sleep Disorders fellowship at Duke. He is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, Neurology and Psychiatry.

A regional leader in the field of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Mažeika has over 10 years experience treating sleep-disordered patients. Dedicated to public education about sleep matters, he has appeared on TV and radio spots and frequently speaks to community groups. He has developed proprietary sleep questionnaires and outcomes measurement tools, allowing his staff to deliver the best possible care for patients with sleep disorders.

On a national level, Dr. Mažeika is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and an active member of the National Sleep Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising public awareness of sleep disorders

Elizabeth Lykins, PA-C

Elizabeth Lykins, PA-C attended the University of Washington School of Medicine-MEDEX, earning her Bachelor of Clinical Health Science and Certificate of Physician Assistant.  She received her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies in Emergency Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Before joining Sound Sleep Health she practiced as a Physician Assistant in emergency medicine for 16 years.  Her interest in sleep medicine was sparked years before while practicing as a registered respiratory therapist with a neonatal/perinatal specialty certification.  She also worked with ventilated and non-ventilated patients for many years.  

Elizabeth enjoys working in sleep medicine, finds it to be very gratifying to make a positive impact in her patients’ lives and the quality of their sleep.  Elizabeth’s areas of expertise include sleep related breathing disorders, sleep hygiene, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

Gail Pettis, DDS, M.MED.SC.

Dr. Pettis earned her DDS degree at Meharry Medical College. She completed her orthodontic residency at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Dental Center. Following her residency, she completed an NIH Postdoctoral Craniofacial Anomalies Fellowship, and received her Masters of Medical Science degree in Oral Biology. She served on the orthodontic faculty at the University of Tennessee, College of Dentistry, for ten years and was awarded tenure.

Dr. Pettis moved to the Seattle area in 1996, and maintained a private orthodontic practice in Issaquah for several years. Dr. Pettis joined the team at Sound Sleep Health in 2012 as an expert in dental sleep medicine.

Christine James, ND

Dr. James received her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. After graduating, Dr. James completed an 8-month Externship with a local cardiologist, where she gained optimal knowledge on cardiovascular medicine, and assisted in developing an integrative approach to treat heart disease. Following her Externship, Dr. James went on to practice as a Naturopathic Physician in Family Care and Women’s Health.

Dr. James joined Sound Sleep Health in 2012, bringing a progressive weight loss program, Sound Medical Weight Loss, to the practice. Her interest in weight loss grew with her passion for cardiovascular health, as well as recognizing that most of her patients with heart disease were suffering from undiagnosed sleep disorders, too little physical activity, and toxic eating habits.  Dr. James has designed three innovative weight loss programs to meet the unique needs and preferences of her patients.

Robert M. Reyna, MD

Dr. Robert Reyna earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego, and completed his residency in Pediatrics through Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. A Diplomate of the National Sleep Foundation, Dr. Reyna’s focus in Sleep Medicine began in the 80’s during his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, where he was a Research Assistant in the Stanford Sleep Center. His continued interest in Sleep Medicine has led to collaborative research with other esteemed Sleep Medicine professionals on “CAP rate comparison in normal and non-apneic snorers” which was published in Sleep Research 1994: 23:360.

Dr. Reyna practices at Sound Sleep Health’s location in Anacortes at Island Hospital Sleep Wellness Center. Before joining Sound Sleep Health in 2011, Dr. Reyna has practiced as a Sleep Medicine Physician and Medical Director at The Sleep Center of Nevada, as well as other sleep clinics throughout Nevada and California.

Alice J. Coad, MA, ARNP

Alice J. Coad received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Master of Arts in Nursing and Anthropology, and completed post graduate studies as an Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Washington. She has taught Nursing and been on the Clinical Faculty at the University of Washington. Prior to joining Sound Sleep Health, she worked in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Geriatric Medicine. She has an interest in chronic and long term illness. Alice brings a diverse clinical perspective to her care of Individuals at Sound Sleep Health.
